It’s Been 10 Years…
This week, I’m writing to you from Las Vegas.
Yes, the land of neon, slot machines, and buffets that defy all logic.
But that’s not why I’m here.
We’re at HypnoThoughts Live - the largest hypnosis conferences in the world.
This year marks a full decade since Chris and I first showed up back in 2015.
Now, here’s the thing…
We’ve never done this like a traditional business. We don’t sit at a vendor table, handing out pens and hoping someone walks over. We don’t stand behind a banner with plastic smiles, pitching our programs like we’re selling blenders at a home show.
Instead, we move.
We roam the halls. We can barely walk more than 10 feet before striking up a new conversation with a first-time attendee or an old friend. We talk to everyone. It never started as a strategy because this is what we actually love to do.
But it’s turned into our strategy.
We connect with people.
We share ideas.
We tell stories.
We laugh our heads off.
And somewhere in all of that, magic happens.
We’ve built some of the most amazing friendships of our lives this way. We’ve met brilliant thinkers, warm souls, mad geniuses, and absolute legends in the field. And over time, we became the best-known people at this conference… without ever trying to be.
We just showed up as ourselves.
That’s the lesson.
If you want to build a better life, business, or even just a circle of great friends - it doesn’t have to be complicated.
You don’t need the biggest booth, the flashiest website, or a fancy “personal brand strategy.”
You just need to show up.
Be real.
Be curious.
Be interested in other people.
And have a good time doing what you love.
People are drawn to that like moths to a halogen lamp. (Hopefully with fewer tragic outcomes.)
This is how Chris and I have always done it. And it works. Not just because it builds relationships, but because it makes the whole process fun.
So wherever you are, whatever you’re building… whether it’s a business, a career, or a more connected life - try this:
Start more conversations.
Ask better questions.
Be generous with your attention and your knowledge.
And above all… enjoy yourself.
Because people remember how you made them feel.
They remember who listened.
Who laughed with them.
Who treated them like a person, not a prospect.
And that? That’s worth more than any sales funnel in the world.
