- Mike had a ton of fear as a kid, and it started on the North Atlantic in the Fall on the HMS Carinthia...
- Mike wound up in Toronto East General Hospital because of his dentist!
- He had to pay protection money as a little kid and had huge ears! He was scared all the time.
- Albert Davies got Mike into magic as a seven year old boy...
- Doing card magic made Mike feel powerful and significant...
- He began Hellstromism as a twelve year old boy...
- Mike was incapable of doing magic for his parents, so he never got validation from them!
- Add altocelarophobia to the mix and it was horrible!
- Mike wrote numerous IQ tests and always had to do more when the other kids were done...He was an autodidact.
- Mike started hypnosis in the summer of 1965 at age 12 when he got the book The Key to Hypnotism by Walter B. Gibson
- He hypnotized his next-door neighbour Wayne Gibbs and stuck pins through his fingertips! Success!
- After bombing out in school, Mike transferred to West Nohant Private School for bright kids!
- Mike made $90.00 per week working for Bell Canada as a telephone operator!
- Mike parents said "He can always go onstage if he has to..." They might have seeded the suggestion...
- Steve Wahrer was Mike's blues guitar teacher, and he became Mike's agent...and Mike is eternally grateful to Steve, who introduced him to the guys in RUSH...
- A mentalist is a magician who seems to be able to read minds...
- Mike saw The Amazing Kreskin perform in Toronto in November 1974, and Mike showed Steve he could replicate much of Kreskin's show...
- Steve got Mike his first gig in Edmonton Alberta on January 29th 1975!
- Nobody in Canada was doing this kind of mentalist/hypnotist show, and Mike had rockstar hair...
- The shows started to come in, mostly colleges and universities and high-schools...
- Mike and Chris are going to HYPROV in Richmond Hill...
- Mike was still at Bell Canada, but doing gigs on the side...
- The Space Show was the turning point...Sound, pyrotechnics, music, lights, and fibre-optics!
- It was a long tiring show with a script Mike had to follow...Mike went back to carrying a briefcase and an empty stage with 15 chairs...
- Mike opened for tons of Canadian bands and had a rockstar life on the road, much of which can never be told...
- The bands drew the audiences so Mike got known as a performer!
- Mike then became a headliner and did his own shows!
- 1992 Mike started listening to Tony Robbins tapes and hears about NLP...
- Mike then began doing his No Cowheads lectures, which became his Brain Software lectures and teaching other people the cool stuff he knew...
- Then he starts studying NLP and goes on to study NLP New Code and Erickson's work...
- Mike then becomes an NLP Trainer, studying with Derek Balmer, Mike's mentor...Mike becomes Derek's "Hypnosis Hired Gun"
- He does therapy in the cool Beaches area of Toronto, until the year 2000...
- This all becomes foundation to today's Architecture of Hypnosis!
- Mike discovered he loved teaching, much more than doing shows...
- Mike goes on to study Timeline Therapy, EFT, Be Set Free Fast, etc.
- Mike performed at the Ontario Police College about 100 times, so cops started calling him to do forensic hypnosis - Armed robberies, sex offenses, and murder cases...
- Mike did lectures for Virginia Dept. of Criminal Justice, New York State Troopers, RCMP, and Ontario Provincial Police Behavioural Science Unit...
- Mike put out a number of hypnosis cassette recordings that became CDs and finally downloads...
- The cassettes had an imaginary castle that was not accessible, but now it's available as Journey to the Castle...
- Mike modelled Dr John Grinder's presentation style and Derek Balmer did too...
- Then Chris starts selling Mike's CDs online, despite Mike's wife not trusting Chris!
- Mike was working with NLP Canada after Derek Balmer died in October 2000...(This was not NLP Canada Training, which is a different organization)
- Mike gets fired from NLP Canada and Chris and Mike create this podcast and start doing their own trainings!
- Chris convinces a skeptical Mike to go to HypnoThoughts Live in Las Vegas...
- They meet amazing trainers and make some great friends...
- Then Mike and Chris started going to hypnosis conventions in Las Vegas and England!
- They then began bringing the great trainers to Toronto! David Snyder, Melissa Tiers, Karl Smith, Anthony and Freddy Jacquin, etc.
- Keep learning, never stop growing!
- Make friends and build bridges!
- Opportunities are everywhere, so look for them!
- It's your life, so stay in control, but stay nice to others!
- Collaborate with the people you can trust!
- Know when it's time to hang up the hypno-spiral...
